2. Are parents required to attend events and parades?
-
Yes and No. Parents can attend events as much or as little as they want. But we do encourage parents to attend parades. To help set up and take down the float. The Royalty Advisors can pick up and drop off court members as needed.

3. How many events are girls required to attend?
-
We encourage you to attend as many as possible. We understand that families have busy lives; we don’t expect you to clear your entire summer for royalty. If you already have a trip planned, its ok. We can work around schedules.

4. If I get on court, will I be forced to quit sports or other activities?
-
No, we understand that girls today are involved in many extracurricular activities. We do our best to work around all schedules as much as possible. That is why we have three court members, if one cannot attend; there are still two others that can. We as an organization would never turn a girl away or band her from court due to outside activities. WE feel that girls who are involved in many activities learn great time management skills, and make wonderful court members.

5. We have heard it is expensive to have a daughter on court, how much are we responsible for?
-
Syttende Mai tries very hard to keep cost as low as possible. While we cannot give you exact number ( because every year is different), we do what we can to help.
-
We pay for a large portion of the clothing needed, use what girls might have in their closets, and fundraising to help offset the cost for remaining items. Some expenses that would come up are: money for food (we try to tailgate/bring food as much as possible for parades so that we are not eating out at every parade) at events.
-
Anything extra the girls might wish to purchase (souvenir books, t-shirt etc., from an event), and any clothing or optional clothing that the court decides on, that is not covered by Syttende Mai.
-
Syttende Mai will reimburse for the fuel cost for the truck used to pull the float. Trucks are usually provided by Sleepy Hollow.

Any other questions can be asked and answered at our upcoming Candidate/Parent Meeting.
