laurann gilbertson
chief curator
Laurann Gilbertson holds a BA in Anthropology and an MS in Textiles and Clothing, both from Iowa State University. She has worked at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa for 30 years.
Laurann worked as the Textile Curator for 19 years and now is the Chief Curator. Among her duties are overseeing the collection of more than 30,000 artifacts, creating exhibitions, and Leading Textile Study Tours to Norway.

“Alt for Norge”

David Engen from Minneapolis will be sharing his experience as a contestant and winner of Season 6 of the Norwegian television show, Alt for Norge.
The show was filmed in 2015 and, similar to The Amazing Race, sets challenges and obstacles for Americans who are descendants of Norwegian immigrants and have never visited Norway. As the winner of the show, David spent his special 60th birthday in Norway and met many of his Norwegian relatives.
He is a retired Lutheran minister and a very entertaining speaker. David will share the funny, frustrating, demanding, and emotional roller coaster of his adventures in Norway.
