Coronation will be at the Mange Takk Sponsor Reception on Thursday, May 15th.

Must be willing and able to participate and/or attend all Westby Syttende Mai events.

Note...you are welcome to attend more appearances with the Syttende Mai Royalty if you so choose.

ATTIRE
-
An authentic Norwegian Bunad is not required, however clothing resembling a bunad for both the King & Queen, along with "solje" jewelry (does not have to be authentic) will be required.

Our Syttende Mai Royalty Committee will help you with creating your attire.

There may be an expense incurred by the new King & Queen for clothing and jewelry. *Borrowing is an option.

Be an enthusiastic, positive Ambassador for Westby Syttende Mai, promoting our Norwegian heritage while representing Syttende Mai in the community and at various events.

How to nominate a Couple for Westby Syttende Mai King & Queen
-
Nominations must be a Husband and Wife.
-
There is no age limit, but they must be physically fit to manage all the requirements needed for travel and socializing at events throughout Westby Syttende Mai weekend and other requested appearances.

Nominated couples must agree to the duties of the Syttende Mai King & Queen before the voting process begins. If they cannot fulfill the requirements, they will not be put on the voting ballot.

The person nominating the Husband and Wife must complete the King & Queen Nomination form and submit it by 5:00pm on April 15th. Fill out the King & Queen Nomination online by clicking on the "King & Queen Nomination Form" button.

There's a $20 entry fee per Nomination. The funds go to the Westby Syttende Mai Royalty Scholarship Fund. The entry fee is non-refundable.
Disclaimer:
If there is 0-1 nominee by the April 15th deadline, the Westby Syttende Mai Board of Directors, at their sole discretion, has the option to nominate and vote to approve a Couple to serve as Westby Syttende Mai King & Queen.
THE VOTING PROCESS

After the deadline, all nominees are vetted by the Syttende Mai King & Queen coordinators. To ensure the nominees will serve and understand the requirements involved with being Syttende Mai King & Queen.

Online Voting will begin on Monday, April 21st and continue until midnight on Wednesday, April 30th.

You can vote 1 time each day throughout the voting period. Multiple votes on 1 day will be disqualified.

Daily voting totals will be shown on the King & Queen website page.

The Couple with the most votes when the voting period ends will be the 2025 Westby Syttende Mai King & Queen.

The new King & Queen will be introduced and coronated at the Mange Takk Sponsor Reception on Thursday, May 15th at Nordic Lanes - Westby.
